Campaign for a Northern Ireland Greenways network

NI Greenways potential network

Northern Ireland has a little-known but rich resource waiting to be developed – over 600 miles of former railway lines lying dormant. Northern Ireland Greenways highlights the potential to create a vast network of walking and cycling paths across Northern Ireland. Linking communities, providing access to the countryside, encouraging healthier lifestyles and kick-starting a new tourism market, Northern Ireland can regenerate a proud part of its industrial and engineering heritage. Read more about the Northern Ireland Greenways vision…

  1. Fantastic idea to encourage tourism. I visited dungannon and was very disappointed about the lack of cycling routes to cookstown and armagh. Cookstown dungannon Greenway would certainly attract cycling tourists. We really enjoyed the Portadown Newry bikepath along the canal.
    Visitor from Canada.
    PS

Also have list of relevant politicians and government officials
    Loved the website

  2. Very pleased to find this site. I live between Dromore and Hillsborough and walk/cycle the roads there. I keep crossing the line to Banbridge and seeing the wooded cutting from Google Earth made me wonder if something couldn’t be done to open it up for use. And here you are… count me in as a supporter! :)
